Memory 07

Trivial Negative: Battle with Meisai. (ep 3, 33:04-45:42)
Description:
This memory is really not very much about Togame. It's a fight between Shichika and Meisai, which she sees very little of. What she gets out of it is that Shichika wins, that there was some personality conflict between the two swordspeople, and there's a sense of sympathy for Meisai, who does die in the end of the fight.

She does regret Meisai dying, but in the end she bows to the fact it's already happened, the necessity of casualties, and Shichika's worldview.

Notes:
+SO THE INTERESTING THING ABOUT THIS EPISODE, and to an extent this memory, is that it has some potential for Togame to empathize with and prioritize women who have had difficult experiences like herself. Not necessarily women who have been damaged by sexism, though I think that's implicit, but women who have had their lives shaped by violence in various ways and live with the legacy of that. While Togame doesn't exactly open up and remains reserved, I actually think there's some room her to read her prioritizing and protecting other women's experiences. I think in a much more personal way than she does men, though she can regret their deaths and pain as well.
